Documents Required For GST Registration

This article is in continuation of my earlier guides on applicable GST rates and GSTIN, and will be discussing the documents required for GST registration in India.

Before going into the details, let’s take a look at some of the prerequisites you have to be ready with before your GST registration.

  • Provisional ID received from the concerned authorities.
  • Password to access GST direct portal
  • A valid email address.
  • A valid mobile number.
  • Complete bank account information.

Since the documents required for GST registration differ according to the business form applicable to your specific business, we have listed here the requirement against each of the forms separately.

Business Type Documents Required
Private Limited. Public Limited and OPC. Documents related to Company.

  • Company’s PAN  card.
  • Certificate of Registration.
  • MOA & AOA.
  • A copy of Bank Passbook first page or any page of Bank Statement showing account details.
  • GST Provisions compliance declaration (Separate for each authorised signatory).
  • Board Resolution Copy for Authorised Signatory.

Documents related to Director/s.

  • Director’s PAN and Identification Proofs.
  • Photos of Managing Director or Authorised Person.

Documents related to Registered Office.

  • A copy of any Utility Bill.
  • NOC from the Landlord.
  • Rent Agreement in case of rented property.
  • Tax paid receipt or municipal Khata copy in case of own property.
Limited Liability Partnerships. Documents related to LLP.

  • LLP’s PAN Card.
  • Certificate of Registration.
  • Agreement of Partnership.
  • A copy of Bank Passbook first page or any page of Bank Statement showing account details.
  • GST Provisions Compliance Declaration (Separate for each authorised signatory).
  • Board Resolution Copy for Authorised Signatory.

Documents related to Partners.

  • Designated Partner’s PAN and ID Proofs.
  • Personal details of all Partners.
  • Managing/Designated/Authorised Partner’s Photos (If more than 10 partners only 10 partner’s photo including that of Managing Partner need to be submitted).

Documents related to Registered Office.

  • A copy of any Utility Bill.
  • NOC from the Landlord.
  • Rent Agreement in case of rented property.
  • Tax paid receipt or municipal Khata copy in case of own property.
Normal Partnerships. Documents related to Partnership.

  • Partnership’s PAN Card.
  • Deed of Partnership.
  • A copy of Bank Passbook first page or any page of Bank Statement showing account details.
  • ’GST Provisions Compliance Declaration (Separate for each authorised signatory).
  • Authorisation Letter (For Authorised Signatory) in the prescribed format.

Documents related to Partners.

  • Designated Partner’s PAN and ID Proofs.
  • Personal details of all Partners.
  • Managing/Designated/Authorised Partner’s Photos (If more than 10 partners only 10 partner’s photo including that of Managing Partner need to be submitted).

Documents related to Registered Office.

  • A copy of any Utility Bill.
  • NOC from the Landlord.
  • Rent Agreement in case of rented property.
  • Tax paid receipt or municipal Khata copy in case of own property.
Proprietary Concern. Documents related to the Proprietor.

  • The Individual’s PAN Card and ID Proof.
  • A copy of Bank Passbook first page or any page of Bank Statement showing account details or Cancelled Cheque.
  • GST rules compliance Declaration (Separate for each authorised signatory).
  • The Individual’s Photos.
  • Authorisation Letter (For Authorised Signatory) in the prescribed format.

Documents related to Registered Office.

  • A copy of any Utility Bill.
  • NOC from the Landlord.
  • Rent Agreement in case of rented property.
  • Tax paid receipt or municipal Khata copy in case of own property.

Note: If there are more than one Authorised Signatory, one among them needs to be designated as Primary Authorised Signatory (PAS) who will be primarily responsible for interacting with the common GST Portal. The authorised signatory’s email address and mobile number needs to be provided during registration.
